Because you need a marketer who is an excellent writer, a talented graphic designer, a creative web builder, and/or an artistic entrepreneur on your team.
IN WRITING, MARKETING, AND GRAPHIC DESIGN
I have managed several large websites and social media accounts, and I am also a talented graphic designer with significant experience with the Adobe Creative Suite. I’ve been using Photoshop since version 7 was released in 2002.
Additionally, I am a skilled tech trainer and have taught individuals in hundreds of 1:1 appointments. I’ve also created and led workshops of up to 200 people on topics such as Online Presence, Photoshop, LinkedIn, Blogging, Graphic Design, and more.
All of my work has involved marketing in some capacity, but as Director of Media, Marketing, and Communications for Idealliance (a global non-profit association that serves the print and packaging industry), I built the marketing strategy from the ground up.
I started with a deep-dive into the analytics from the website, email marketing, social media, podcasts, and webinars. Then I created a comprehensive digital marketing strategy to effectively promote our business and drive sales for live training sessions and on-demand online classes.
A reader makes a good writer. I was a major bookworm as a kid and have loved writing since I was about 8 years old. I kept a travel blog for eight years, have written nine novels, and I have a degree in technical writing and communication.
At Earthbound Farm—the largest organic and conventional leafy greens grower and processor in the world—I managed all the web content. This included writing and publishing blog posts and enewsletters, updating the Wordpress-based website, creating interactive digital content, and commenting back to our followers on social media.
I am particularly enamored with the CRAP principles of graphic design. I know it sounds sketchy, but it’s real. At MIIS (the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, a professional graduate school in California), I used CRAP all the time when designing, and I taught others how to use it, too. Ask me about it sometime.
I use professional design software every day, and my design skills are always in demand, whether it’s for website graphics, social media posts, print ads, newsletters, e-books, event flyers, or more.
For eight years and counting, my husband and I have been creating beautiful works of functional wooden art through our side business Tazboards—in the form of cutting boards, wooden spoons, plaques, and other wooden keepsakes and kitchen items, personalized with laser engraving, CNC carving, and hand-drawn pyrography.
I also teach online and in-person pyrography (wood burning) classes on the evenings and weekends.
Four things that have greatly influenced my life are:
